Ervas Carbon Sheets

Carbon fiber sheets are primarily suited for deviating surfaces. The sheets are a great solution to reinforce complex shapes, because they can be wrapped around a construction, so carbon fiber sheets may be used to reinforce pillars, joists, chimneys, silos, tunnels and other deviating

forms of construction. This would not be possible with the regular carbon fiber laminates.

Summary
In case there are changes in the condition of the actual load on a concrete construction, the calculated limiting values may be exceeded, which makes it necessary to reinforce the concrete. The application of, among other things, Carbon Fibers on the outside of the construction, may be a solution. Ervas uses Carbon Sheets, which have the advantage that round shapes (think of pillars, chimneys) may also be reinforced. Carbon Laminates are not suited for this application.

Description
ERVAS C-Sheets consist of unidirectional stretched carbon fibers, held together in warp and weft by a thin glass fiber network. There are two types of sheets available, with moduli of elasticity in excess of 240 kN/mm2 and 640 kN/mm2. Use and applications
Elements of armored concrete are statically calculated and carried out for a specific load. As we pointed out in the introduction, during the lifespan of a structure, the requirements and conditions may change for different reasons.

ERVAS carbon fiber sheets may be used to reinforce pillars, joists, chimneys, silos, tunnels and other construction elements subject to unfavorable loading circumstances. The sheets provide a unique solution for reinforcing complex shapes, because they can be wrapped around the element in question. This will enable the designer to also reinforce round pillars, bended tunnel sections, complicated pillar heads, pipes and chimneys, something which would not be possible with pultruded CRRP laminates.

Processing in short
To ensure the transfer of the loading of the ERVAS C-Sheet to the foundation is done properly, the surface needs to be coarsened by sandblasting or grating. Subsequently, all damaged parts (cracks, rock pockets and/or surface deficiencies) are repaired. Before applying the sheets, the surface is cleaned and dust-proofed. Subsequently the sheets are glued on. Sharp edges are rounded off. The material must then sit for 24 hours. The ERVAS C-Sheets will reach the intended strength after 7 days.
